“Start Anywhere, Follow It Everywhere”

Credit is due to Myron Rogers for the above quote. It’s a call to action on changing what needs to be done and following it often to places that were never envisioned. Like a heuristic puzzle that unfolds on the journey from where you started to where you later find yourself. Trust and courage are needed for such a journey because the path is often unclear, but the need is known, the problem is eminent. As in most journeys it is better to bring along a few friends and companions that share similar understanding of the issue, but have different creative approaches. It’s not about everyone agreeing or even getting along, but together seeking solutions to a common problem that all involved know needs changing.

So what does this entail ~ Community, the group effected by the need for change. Margaret J. Wheatley, stated in her book; ‘turning to one another“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” The process is not about top-down telling others what they need to do, or bringing in outside plans and resourses to resque them; as if they are helpless and have no resources of their own. Devaluing and marginalizing the community by taking charge may seem like what needs to happen for a quick solution from the outside, but project resilience and ongoing support for it’s longevity, soon become unsustinable. If the creative energies and involvement from the community are facilitated with equity, synergy has a chance to help you follow it everywhere.

Communication stratedgies need to be open and flexible enough to promote involvement and free flowing conversations. Everyone gets a vote and many divergent opinions are equally heard. There is no clear leader that tells you what to follow, but a process that helps you clarify a plan and who will take part in it during the action phase. This may also be a situation that requires a ‘build it as you go’ approach. A starting point allowing it to grow and morph into what it needs to be for now. Changing, modifying, re-starting and working toward completion at a pace that allows for a joyful journey together. An experience we would rather have than stressful toiling. A willingness to not always being right all the time and making room for other’s expressions is required. Its the amalgamation of creative flow that carries the joyous energy of bringing projects into a state of functionality and continues the ongoing dedication to bring about improvements and maintenence. Individuals care about what they create and if the purposes and needs of the community are met, it will flourish.

Technologies that support the lives of human culture, enviornmental goals, and life as we know it on this planet, is most primary. But, if we lose our Earth home, personal and collective health, all of us become depleated with literally no quarter to stand. So we need to chose our technologies with care and thoughfulness. Just because we can do something, does not mean we always should especially when it creates perilous futures.

Community, we are coming to help!
